A day in Pukenui

  1. 5:30am

    The boats go out

    Fishers head out from the wharf before sunrise while the harbour is still flat.

  2. 8:00am

    School run on SH1

    The bus heads south past the Kōwhai Flats orchards. Highway patrol sits at the 50 sign on the way into town.

  3. 12:30pm

    Lunch rush at the dairy

    Pies, energy drinks, and gossip. Whoever's behind the counter hears everything first.

  4. 6:00pm

    Smoke over Kauri Ridge

    A campfire gets away from someone. The volunteer brigade gets paged and the rangers close the track.

  5. 2:00am

    Lights on the beach

    A stolen ute is doing donuts on Oneroa Sands. Police need a 4WD and a lot of patience.
